I woke up this morning and looked up into the sky and saw his big, beautiful face smiling back at me. Startled I raised my hand to shield my eyes from the sun, for it was already high in the sky, and squinted back at him.
"I thought you'd forgotten me," he said. "It has been quite some time since we chatted but rest assured I've not forgotten you and have watched over over you like any parent would a precious child."
I bent my head in shame for it had been quite some time. "Father, I thought you had forsaken me because I was not worth saving, but see now that you were the one who was forgotten."
"Come walk into with me into this beautiful day and let's chat for a while."
"Can you take my hand?"
His smile filled the blue sky.
"You forget my child that you are perfect in every way. To doubt that is to doubt me and I'm not in the habit of creating crap - though there are those who stray and never find their way back. Your heart is too big to forget me for long."
I swallowed hard and the tears began to fall.
"I created you with a beautiful smile that lights up the world and gave you the job to brighten the days of those who are down. I gave you the gift of writing so that you can share your words with the world. And I gave you a way to show off my beauty through the photographs that you take. Those gifts are there for you to take should you choose to do so. It is ungracious to runaway from the talents that so many wished they possessed."
"I'm scared that I won't be good enough." I mumbled, no longer convinced about my own wisdom. "And I'm just so lonely, isn't there someone that I can enjoy my life with?"
"All in good time, my girl. Let yourself shine and spread your smile and inner beauty upon the world. Write your words and take your photos and the rest will fall into place. You are strong willed and make my life difficult but if you'd sit back, relax and believe in yourself, your fear will simply vanish."
"You make it sound so simple."
"It is."
"Please don't let me go,hold my hand tight and let me cry on your shoulder."
"You are done crying for now. More sorrows will come, just like they must, but now it is time for you to share your gifts and to trust in my wisdom."
His hand slipped out of mine and he faded off into the distance. My fingers tingled and suddenly I smiled. Strength filled my shoulders and I put one foot in front of the other, on my way towards the continued journey of my wonderful life.
That is the most beautiful picture. And what you wrote is absolutely the most beautiful piece of writing I have ever read.
